In Nintendo's fall press conference, they unveiled the Nintendo DSi - the latest installment in Nintendo's line of portable, hand-held gaming systems.
Despite the removal of the GBA slot (for size, it is a little thinner), this thing looks pretty freaking awesome, so read on.

One of the first things that you will notice about the DSi is the screens. They are roughly 17% bigger than those on the DSLite, and the back-light has been brightened (5 brightness settings compared with 4 on the DSLite). However, when on it's brightest setting, it actually gets LESS battery life than the DS and DSLite.

I bet that you're wondering what the round, black dots are. It turns out that these are actually 3 Megapixel cameras! One is on the outside, and another is on the inner side of the hinge on the DSi.The Dsi comes with a pretty neat photo-editor, but you obviously won't be getting professional photos out of this. You can also transfer photos to the Wii via an SD card - yes the DSi has an SD card slot.
The camera is also used for other things, including (either DS to DS or Nintendo Wi-Fi connection) video chat, and an animator. The animator also allows you to edit pictures that you draw, and via the DSi's internal microphone, you can add your own theme music and sound effects.
Just to finish up the visuals, the power switch has been replaced with a button, a power light, Wi-Fi light, and a charging light have been added, and the speakers have been changed (they do sound a little better, as well).
Now, we'll focus on the technical aspects of the Nintendo DSi. Similar to the Wii, PSP, and Apple's iPhone/iPod touch, the DSi has updateable firmware, and an "App Store", known as the DSi Store.
Using the microphone (and an included app), you can record and play with sounds and songs. The Nintendo DSi features a sound editor, which allows you to play with the tempo and pitch, and add some pre-made effects to music or sounds.
It also features a new interface, but everyone who has tried one says that almost every aspect of the DSi is painfully slow, and we all know how obnoxious that can be.
Nintendo has confirmed many of our beliefs! The DSi will be released for the USA on April 5th, and will cost $169.99!
