Okay, now that you have read all of that, get ready for more. This section of the preview will jump around a bit, so just hang tight and you'll get all the info you need.
First, we'll get into the controls. As usual, Nintendo (as usual) has given us a truckload of control options, and all of them look pretty good. The most popular method (probably the best, too) of control is the one that involves the Wii-Wheel. You take your Wii-mote and put it inside of the Wii-Wheel, which comes with the game. You can also use the Virtual Controller, the Wii-mote and Nunchuck (we recommend this for advanced players), and the GCN controller.
Now we'll cover the Karts. I know we didn't list them, but we will in the near future. This game is the first in the MK series to include motorcycles. These are very cool, and have some major advantages (and disadvantages). The neatest feature about them is their ability to do wheelies. Wheelies give you a huge burst of speed, but make it nearly impossible to turn. One of their disadvantages is the fact that they are very light, and can be easily bumped around by larger Karts.
Some of you might be upset with Nintendo for this: they have removed the snaking trick. The boosts that you receive from drifting now depends on the angle and endurance of your drift.
This is a new feature that we're all pretty excited about: the ability to do tricks in the air. Besides using them to look awesome and show-off, tricks gain you boosts; so remember to not overdo it and miss a landing.
Now we'll give you definitions of the new items:
- The Mega-Mushroom - Besides getting a boost of speed when you use this mushroom, your Kart grows to an enormous size, allowing you to temporarily flatten other Karts
- POW Block - When this is used, all of the karts in front of you suffer an earthquake: they drop their items and lose drastic speed.
- The Thunder Cloud - When you use this, you get occasional boosts and temporary immunity to ground items. All good, right? Wrong. After a while, you start to shrink, losing major speed and allowing players to run you over. However, these effects can be transferred to another player's Kart by bumping into them.
Now we'll talk a bit about the online play. There is a new channel, the Mario Kart Channel. It posts the rankings of the best players online worldwide. Also a new online feature, for the first time in MK history, you can play battles online!
That's it for now, if you find a mistake or want us to add anything just send us an email at admin@gamers101.net. Thanks!
